Basket strainer is consisted of filter basket, flange, flange covers, fasteners and other components. When the liquid enters the filter basket, solid impurity particles will be blocked in the filter basket, only clean fluid discharged from the filter outlet. And for cleaning, just unscrew the bottom plug screw, drain the fluid and remove the flange cover, and then reassemble it after cleaning. Therefore, it is very convenient to maintain it.
Basket strainer is often used in the situation where has high demanding for flow requirements. And you can maintain it by removing the cover. Parallel by two parallel basket strainers and shunt valve is available. When a strainer element is in maintenance, split-flow is allowed to through another strainer element.
Basket strainer is characterized by a vertical filter chamber which is generally bigger than Y-type strainer’s. And for its diameter, the pressure drop of basket strainer is lower than Y type’s. So, basket strainer is commonly used in liquid systems and large diameter steam systems, with strong carrying capacity of garbage and impurities.
Basket strainer can be installed in horizontal pipelines, but if it was too heavy, the bottom of the strainer needs to install some support. When the basket strainer is used in steam system, there will be lots of condensate water in the strainer and a condensate discharge port should be installed here.
